Gotemba Trail mountain hut

Points to note when using mountain huts on Mt. Fuji

  • The mountain huts on Mt. Fuji operate on a book-in-advance system. They are only open during the trail opening season.
  • Mountain huts are simple accommodations intended for short naps, so they have only the bare minimum of facilities.
  • When choosing a mountain hut to stay at, select one that is located in a suitable area based on your own physical capabilities (the distance and time you can climb).
  • Payment and reservation methods vary from mountain hut to mountain hut, so please check in advance.
  • Please allow ample time, as you may not be able to use the facilities after the check-in time.
  • Guests can have a simple meal for dinner and breakfast. (Please note that we may not be able to accommodate allergies or religious restrictions, so please check with each mountain hut in advance or prepare your own meals.)
  • Because water is extremely precious on Mt. Fuji, the mountain huts do not have bathing or washing facilities. Drinking water is available for purchase.
  • Rooms are generally shared by both men and women.
  • Toilet disposal methods vary from mountain hut to mountain hut, so please be sure to check the instructions before use.
  • There are no trash cans at the mountain hut. Please be sure to take your trash with you.

Gotemba Trail mountain hut

  • There is no mountain hut at the Gotemba Trail New 5th Station. The closest mountain hut to the trailhead is Oishi-Chaya, which is about a 15-minute climb from the New 5th Station trailhead.
  • The only mountain huts on the Gotemba Trail are up to the 7.9th station. Beyond that, you can use the mountain hut at the summit.
  • The Gotemba Trail has fewer mountain huts compared to other routes, and after leaving Oishi-Chaya, there are no more huts until New 6th station. Please plan your hike carefully, taking into account your expected arrival time at the huts, the weather, and your own physical condition, when deciding on your departure time from the trailhead.
*The Gotemba Trail is a volcanic gravel trail with no shade, and the climb starts from a low elevation, making it extremely tiring. On sunny days, there is a risk of heatstroke, and in dense fog, there is a risk of getting lost. Beginners should be especially careful and climb with experienced hikers.
  • Please refer to the map below to see the locations of the mountain huts along the Gotemba Trail.
